Microsoft Excel for Dummies <--- me!
Microsoft Excel for Dummies (ME!)
I don't know about you, but I really struggle using Excel!
I'm 25 years old and used the programme through school, so technically, I should be clued up..... but nooooooo.
I started working for a company that relies on Excel for a lot of reporting. When I applied, I knew full well that they used the programme but somewhere in my head I thought "how hard can it be?" I was told that I was expected to know formulas, create charts, pivot tabes ect.ect....
My first instinct was that I could easily use YouTube, however after a while, the videos I were looking at became irrelevant and I would have to watch at least half the video (if not more) to realise it just wasn't what I was looking for. Instead, I turned to buying myself 'Excel for dummies' for £25.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For anyone who has ever bought one of these books will understand when I say, waaaay too much for bedtime reading. By chapter 2 my brain was fried, I'm not even sure I'd taken anything in, haha.
My last and final resort was actually asking someone and talking to people, and who best to go to.... QS' (Quantity Surveyors). Their life is Excel, they were made to use spreadsheets, pie charts and formulas.
This is possibly the best thing I've done.
They know everything (well as much as I need to know). They even showed me shortcuts and help sheets that really did help me out.
One thing I learnt from this is not to be shy when you need help. No question is a silly question, don't be afraid to ask.
If anyone has useful links or tips please feel free to comment
