- Basic Engineering of Archery: Stance
Basic Engineering Archery:
Stance is the attitude or position of the feet when standing on the floor or ground. Good standing position on stand has 2 conditions, namely:
First requirement: Standing weight on the foot is supported by both legs in a balanced manner with the percentage of 60-70% resting on the ball of the foot while the remaining 30-40% rests on the heel.
Second Requirement: Body position must be balanced and upright. In the sense of not leaning forward or backward and right side and left side.
In order to achieve a balanced body and the correct standing attitude then there are 3 things to note are:
First: The distance between the two feet should be shoulder width apart.
Second: The toe should touch the imaginary line in the center of the target target. And
Third: Make sure both knees are relaxed (not tense)
The attitude of the correct foot position in archery sport there are 4 kinds, including:
Square or Parallel Stance is the attitude of the foot position parallel to the floor. That is, by straightening both legs parallel to the target goal. While the position of the chest with the goal of forming angle 90 degrees.
Open Stance is the position of the foot against the open floor a little wide. In the sense that the position of the right foot slightly forward to the front and left foot parallel to the target a little bit oblique to the left. The body forms an angle of 60 degrees.
Close Stance is the attitude or position of the foot when standing on the floor in a closed. The point is that the tip of the right foot touches the imaginary line and the heel of the left leg touches the imaginary line or parallel to the right foot. The chest forms a 120-degree angle.
Oblique Stance is the opposite of the closes stance ie the tip of the front foot parallel to the tip of the left foot with the direction of shoving towards the middle of the target. And the chest forms a 45-degree angle.
