RE: We Are The Most Comfortable Generation, Are We The Most Peaceful?
I liked this article. I think the issue is in order for a person or generation to know peace. They need to know themselves. To know yourself means you have to spend time with yourself. Learning yourself and asking questions like what makes me happy.
Are the thoughts in my head me? Are feelings who i am? If i feel bad or unpeaceful does that mean something is wrong with me or the world. Or does it just mean i'm believing some story i created in my head. Some idea of right and wrong i have chose to believe in. Is it really true what i believe or just belief?
So my point is that with increased technology we have more distractions. The more distractions the less time one can spend with themselves asking those questions. So technology maybe is a very big distraction. However, i dont completely see this as a problem from technology.
Some of my journey on asking such questions have began from use of technology. Watching a video or reading a blogpost. However, i can see where it could hinder one from peace to some degree.
Technology allows us to have comfortable lives and treat our bodies well. That's great but treating your body well is not peace. Your body feeling good at a specific period of time doesn't address the thoughts in your head. So i feel peace we're speaking of is going to be related to how people address their thoughts and belief systems on what is good and bad. Once people find out there is no good or bad just your own personal belief. I think the stress of taking on such ideas will go away and generations can become alot more peaceful.
I think that the current generation is over using or misusing technology. People just want to keep checking their notification of their social media. You are right in stating that it is all such a big distraction. Distraction that diverts your attention from the real things in life. Things that actually matter.
