RE: How I feel about being late for work.

in #life7 years ago

This reminds me of a quote from a pretty famous book that was turned into a film:

“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 8:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”

From Charles Bukowski's Factotum.

Brilliant. Surely not something entirely original, many people think it but not enough dare say it.

I have a very simple policy at work, if it works, I'll work. If it starts stressing me out, I'm gone. Of course I want a good salary but my sanity comes first

That's always how I've been. These days I feel if I had a job, it would be anything providing I'm fine with the workload. I could do anything as long as the environment works for me.

Keep focusing on your sanity though, it's something most ignore and then get overwhelmed, resulting in an overly-negative perspective of life.

Most people ignore it cause it's really hard to function in society and be good to yourself and have standards for others to do the same. Not so hard once you get used to it though :-D

Incredible. Thank you a million for sharing this quote.
