THE HARD LESSON

in #lifelast month

I always felt like my parents talked too much. They always have some of word of advice to throw in my face whenever I try to do something..

They wanted me to understand life before life would teach me a lesson the hard way. They thought I could not act and think for myself.

I was very much capable of making my own decisions and I wanted them to see that.

They would always talk about the kind of people I followed. But Daniel wasn't bad company, they thought he was. Daniel and I became friends too quickly because I admired him.

I liked Daniel. He looked like someone who knew where he was going, he had a purpose and that was why he left this parents house so no one could control him anymore.

I introduced him to my parents even when I knew that they would have too much to say.

"That boy is up to no good. He will not help your life." My dad started.

"Dad, you just met him. You can't just judge someone like that after a one-time meeting."

"I may not know the young man. But I know the kind of person he will become. Stay away from him." I was angry. Why did they have to dictate everything that goes on with me. I felt like they didn't understand me anymore.

"Dear. Listen to your father. If he says that, then just listen to him." Their words entered into one ear and came out through the other.

I followed Daniel everywhere, I thought we were a match made in heaven. He had one business he said would bring fast money and said he just needed me to be by his side.

I believed him, he made me believe him. I went with him and signed some documents. Daniel and I were going to be rich. I was going to show my parents that I would do fine without them. My parents didn't understand the world I lived in, they were old fashioned.

Daniel was going to get married to me if everything worked out and the business falls through so I decided to move in with him.

And one evening, I overheard Daniel's talking on the phone.

"I'm planning to run tonight. The documents has her signatures, not mine. If they managed to trace them, it would lead directly to her. You know how bad this is. I could end up in prison."

"Daniel? What was that? Were you... going to leave me?"

"Look, everything didn't work as planned. Something happened and-"

"You were going to run and I would end up in a deep mess? Daniel, how could you?"

I'm too young to be in prison. And what? Did I force you to sign those documents. I'm leaving. Find your way out of this yourself. You've always wanted to prove to sweet mummy and daddy that you could handle yourself right, then do just that."

And he was gone. I felt so foolish, my parents had warned me. What was I going to do. I had fallen into the trap my parents was trying to keep me from.

There was nowhere else to go so I went back to the only place I would feel welcomed. I would accept their decision if they decide to not take me back in.

I told them everything that happened as I cried like I child, I really was still a child. And I still needed their guidance.

I expected them to scold me for ignoring their words and acting so stupid. But they didn't. My father started going from place to place talking to people to clear my name.
