Wishing Everyone a Happy Friday with a Quick Update

in #life7 years ago

Hey everybody!

It’s been a while since I’ve really been able to post. My wife gave birth to our second lovely daughter about two weeks ago now. You can imagine life has been a little hectic. Trying to keep up with a full-time job, family, Master’s Thesis, a part-time job, and writing on Steemit is extremely difficult. Damn I just realized how much I’m actually doing right now. No wonder I’m always tired.

I’ve finally had a chance to catch up on some sleep and I want to reassure everyone out there that I am still around. I’ve been testing out Steepshot for the past couple weeks and had a lot of fun with it. I recommend it if you are a shutterbug. It really is a lot like Instagram, but I do have one reservation with it. All your images are posted to the main Steemit site, so you can’t send those cute baby friends to your family/friends alone. I can’t really blame Steepshot, though, it seems like every Dapp is forced to do that. Hopefully with the new Steemit Hive/Communities update, that can be solved.

I do have a couple short stories in the works. One is in the review stage and the other will take some time to complete. If you liked my “Elke and the Piper” fairy tale re-telling, I’m sure you’ll like these. Here’s a taste of my short story titled “The Hunt”:

All you have to do is line up the one metal peg between the two metal pegs, then squeeze. Dad’s words gnawed at him, but the barrel still shook. Bobby aimed for the grizzly-sized mat of fur and claws that pinned his father to the dirt, but a bush blocked his view. What if he shot Dad on accident? He heard muffled screams followed by a roar and snap of a branch--he hoped--and then silence.

Bobby curled up into a quivering ball of shock and hopelessness, dropping the gun. Maybe it hadn't noticed him. He stayed in the cover of the duck blind while Dad investigated a strange sound. Grass rustled outside; something big circled the shelter. Branches cracked overhead as the thatched roof was ripped from the walls, followed by a dull thud in the distance. A hairy paw with long reddened claws eclipsed the sky as it reached through the hole.

Can’t wait to read on? I can’t wait for it to be done either. I want to thank everyone at The Writer’s Block (TWB) for all the help and support they’ve given me over the past few months. Special thanks to @tinypaleokitchen, @bex-dk, and @anikekirsten for reviewing pretty much all my drafts and talking out some story lines with me.

The last thing I would like to mention is I want to start a vlog. I used to do some Twitch streaming and really enjoyed it. I think a lot of my content could be presented in video format and I would like to add a more personal touch…. Like my face. I hope it will take less time than some of my articles too, the good ones are easily a full 8 hours of work! I have a couple ideas planned for videos, but I will leave those as a surprise.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!
