RE: Workaholism Isn’t A Badge Of Honor – It’s An Addiction

in #life6 years ago

Over work can be a relationship and family destroying addiction, although a "socially acceptable" one. It can keep you from the inner work necessary to evolve yourself and therefore humanity. But so can being an Olympic contender, even a gold medalist, which is much more socially acceptable than even workaholism.

I guess it all boils down to "what is your life in service to"?

If you are "working" 20 hours a day meditating trying to achieve mastery of your being in service to evolving humanity - then it is not an addiction in my opinion. If you are working 20 hours a day to build a startup bringing clean water or irrigation or alternative banking services to the billions without, then you are not addicted, again imho.

But if you are doing any of these things for fame, or glory, or power, or to avoid looking at your own emptiness or avoid feeling your repressed emotions and pain - then you are addicted.
