A typical Rainy day
This is how a typical Nigerian road looks like on a rainy day as this. This could be derogatory to Nigeria and Africa as a whole, I'm just so pissed at the moment! Nigeria is the largest black country in the world in case you never knew, and I'd say we're the richest in Africa because we are richly blessed with natural resources. It's only diamonds we don't have but we have other amazing things and a very rich cultural heritage with over 300 other indigenous languages besides the 3 main ones; Yoruba (my first language), Igbo and Hausa.
The reason I'm pissed is because I checked the newspaper today and all I could see is billions and billions of dollars stolen by our leaders while we struggle to eat with a dollar per day! Isn't that wicked?? It's not even human! Those guys are animals! Some would even starve for days before they eat. Even I which belong to the so called middle class can hardly eat afford my education. I'm just so tired of these struggles, you can't see the politicians kids in this country, never! They're always abroad leading a good life while we wallow in poverty and hopelessness; people actually live on the streets here (not trees), some are dying at the hospital, some been molested, some kidnapped, some begging for just water, some begging for money, some doing nasty things just to survive, some are trekking miles (not for exercising purposes), some drowning in flood among others, while our leaders are having the best time of their lives.
I just really needed to get that steam out! Phew! The funny thing is, we know how to smile regardless. We just always hope things get better! You'd never know this when you see a typical African girl on Facebook with pretty make up and all. We take pictures in beautiful places and go to our houses and at times sleep in hunger and that's not because we're dieting, it's because there's probably nothing available to eaten... It is well with us; that's like what we say every minute to give ourselves HOPE!
