I can appreciate those occassional outages too to get us away from cyberspace and more into the real world!
I have a good supply of books and also we have oil lamps in preperation for the power being down.

We don't have oil lamps here, and their light is deemed a little too dim to read for us...but whatever that works for you! Here most of my books are e-books so it doesn't really pull me out of the cyberspace, but less connectivity in overall!
