Great point. Thanks for forwarding. One thing that I've done for years to let the marketers know how I feel is to mail them back their own junk, at their cost.

Often times physical junk mail comes with postage paid self addressed return envelopes. You can stuff all your own junk mail in their return envelope and mail it back to them. Heck, send them extra mail too.

The companies don't have to pay for these envelopes until you mail them back. They are all billed to a corporate account. They don't care since most of the time when the letters come back it's to do business with them. But if we all mailed their garbage back to them at their cost, they may stop sending it to us.

Some recycling actually costs more in gas and such than it does to say simply grow new trees. Plastics take a long time to decompose so they are unique, but theres actually more trees planted now than there was 100 years ago. Tin cans are good to recycle because it takes more resources to dig up things like bauxite than it does to recycle the cans.
