Shocking Discovery About Steemit Tags. MUST READ

in #life7 years ago

When I started “Question University” on Steemit my intent was to use my educational background in Economics, Finance and Accounting along with my DIY, Survival and Prepping skills and twenty plus years as a trader, investment banker, securities analyst and economist to present to you questions that should be brought to the forefront of your mind that would encourage you to find answers that would help you become aware of the forces working against you as a human and to prepare yourself and your family accordingly.

After posting the first 30 videos and observing that not only was my content not being up voted but not even read or viewed. I began examining the tags I chose to use for my posts. This lead to an analysis of the Steemit tags. I was shocked at my findings.

In my analysis I viewed the tags in numerical order starting with the most popular all the way to the bottom of the list. It was nothing as I had expected. It was shocking to say the least. The tags I placed on my previous 30 plus video posts were correct but my assumptions that people would view and read my posts were inaccurate to say the least. Again, it was shocking.

Question University and I assumed that people worldwide would be focused on happenings that would have a major impact on their lives and place a high priority on these areas, but to my amazement people are not.

On Thursday, December 7, 2017 I printed the Steemit tags in order of priority. I was shocked to find the tags in the top ten. These ten tags are a way of taking the pulse of the Steemit community to determine what is most on their mind. Here are the top ten tags beginning with the most popular in the number one slot; life, photography, Steemit, blog, bitcoin, art, cryptocurrency, news, story and crypto. This is very surprising to me.

A good 30% of these tags are focused on outright “gambling”, not speculation or investing but “gambling”. The three I reference are bitcoin, cryptocurrency and crypto. So what gives me the right to make such a negative statement about these three tags? I guess it’s the twenty plus years I spent as an investment banker, economist and securities analyst. I admit, I could be wrong about the future of crypto currencies but I have felt this way before, during and after the 3,000% gain in Bitcoin. It has too many red flags that make even me scared to touch it. Maybe it’s because I’m an old dude and don’t like the adrenaline rush that comes from outright gambling as much as you young people. Regardless, I wish those of you who invest in Crypto currencies lots of luck and hope one day when you’re all multi-millionaires you can look me up and tell me how wrong I was.

I would have estimated the top ten tags to have included areas of interest that would encompass four major categories; Physical & Mental Health, Ability to Earn a Living, Life & Lifestyle, and Retirement and Earnings. Physical & Mental Health would include (family, religion, health, happiness and relaxation. Ability to earn a living would include education, skills and DIY aka Do It Yourself. Life & Lifestyle would include politics, news and war. Retirement & Earnings would include investments, prepping and the economy. Without a proper balance in these areas living a successful, happy life would be very difficult.

Looking at my picks for the top tags it appears that people really don’t put much thought into these areas or maybe I put too much thought into these areas. Out of 232 Steemit tags my picks were listed in the following positions; Family ranked 83 of 232, Religion 80 of 232, Health 31 of 232, Education 58 of 232, News 8 of 232, politics 5 of 232, war 195 of 232, Investment 98 of 232, Prepping 209 of 232, Economy 191 of 232 and Business 77 of 232.

My final thoughts for Question University are questions for Question University. Should I cater to the top ten tags or should I pick the tags nearest to my content? For me I will continue to tag accurately and perhaps even make up some new tags for my content. It really doesn’t matter at this point since my contributions are going un-noticed anyway. My hope for the future is that my work will have a positive effect on a few people anyway or perhaps the pulse of the masses will change what’s important to them and find @QuestionUniv on Steemit.
