WASA allotted to the allocation of monsoon
In the rainy season, water logging is created in different parts of the capital. Pedestrians fall victim. Locals observed the holes in the walk in Haji K Ali Road in East Jurain in Dhaka yesterday.
WASA got special allocation in the monsoon. This time around 40 crore taka WASA demanded to clean the canal, drainage and box culvert in this money. By doing so, the water logging of Dhaka City will be removed. To clear the sewage, the help of the Local Government Department is "Help Allow" WASA
According to the 1996 water supply and sanitation law, the Dhaka WASA is responsible for the water scarcity of Dhaka City. As a result, WASA is responsible for keeping and cleaning the regular sewage lines. But every year, when the rainy season comes, WASA recalled that allocation.
WASA wants to allocate before the rainy season, Taksim A Khan, Managing Director of the company said in the first light, "When the monsoon, when the drainage is cleaned then only the sewage has to be cleaned. If you do before, the drain will be filled. So we are allocating this before the monsoon. Now I have got additional allocation. "Tasheem A. Khan further said," Now water will not be so much, we are quite ready. "
WASA sources said, the proposal sent to the ministry said that for the last few years, the connectivity of a few kilometers of drainage line in Dhaka North and South City Corporation was given on the Dhaka WASA drainage line. As a result, many sand and soils entered the Dhaka WASA drainage line. Apart from carpeting and re-marketing, manholes have been covered and cachapits have been damaged. In this season, WASA wants to build and rebuild these cachespots. Besides, there is no road to reach the excavator near most canals, because of the need of the bulldozer to dig the canal. Dump trucks must be collected because of not having enough dump trucks to remove dirt. According to WASA, it is necessary to maintain a large repairs in order to handle 16 pumps properly. They need so much money to do this.
Local Government Division officials say that WASA maintains 74 kilometers of canal for the subdivision of Dhaka city. But the canals have become filled due to uncontrolled solid waste, construction materials and construction waste directly in the canals. After the removal of the floating solid waste, it can return to the previous state within two or two days. Earlier the canals used to fall into the river through the various water bodies in the city and the water bodies were used as reservoirs. WASA Box Creates a number of manholes to keep the culverts running. This year, the approval of five crore taka has been approved, but now Tk 40 crore has been approved in this work. Although every year before the rainy season, WASA started cleaning sewage from January.
Ministry's short-term plan
The Local Government Division has prepared a short-term plan to reduce the waterlogging, emphasizing the need to speed up 17 works. It has been given priority in the 'removal of water logging in Secretariat area'. According to the plan, the 'Quick Response Team' will be active all the time. 10 Vigilance teams of two city corporations have been formed. This team will soon take notice of the authorities if there is water logging and coordinate the work of removing waterlogging in the near future.
A decision has been taken to monitor the seven areas that have more water logging in Dhaka city. These are Secretariat, Rupnagar of Mirpur, Journalist Colony, Rokeya Sarani, Dhanmondi 27, Shantinagar-Malibagh, Motijheel and Nikunj 1 and Kuril Flyover. The maximum use of existing water treatment facilities in these areas should be ensured.
When asked about the situation, Local Government Division Secretary Zafar Ahmed Khan said in the first light, "We have allocated Tk 40 crore for WASA to remove water logging." Hope to dig the WASA canal will solve some problems. We will see the issue of canal digging a few days later. '
