Hello friends! I am going through a breakup currently, 3.5 year relationship that directly followed my 10 year marriage, and for the first time in my adult life I will be single and independent to do whatever the heck I want!

I am going to spend some time mourning and then some time with family but an opportunity has arisen for me to meet a friend in Vietnam in May. This is a little "crazy" for me as I will be solo traveling part of it and it will be my first trip to Asia. So I guess I'm looking for support and advice?
Update: based on recs will not be spending a week in HK, probably just 3 days so that opens up more time for other places! Considering Ho Chi Minh, Thailand & Cambodia now
I checked flights and I would connect in Hong Kong so I think I will spend a week in HK alone to adjust to jet lag and have some solo travel in a safe place. Then fly from there to Vietnam to meet my friend and travel Vietnam for 2 weeks, about 10 days of it with her and then about 5+ days alone before heading back to N. America.
Questions- HK recs, does this seem like a good idea to travel alone?
Vietnam plans thus far (tbd): meet in Hanoi, 5 days in Hanoi with a boat trip to Halong, fly to Hoi An and then part ways there/she is flying out of Da Nang.
Having spent the last decade and a half being a wife and caretaker for various people, children and pets, it feels like it's my year to do things for me! Support and love appreciated 💝💝💝 thanks all ✨️✨️
Pic for attention from my last sorta solo trip to NYC 🩷
