Blast
6:30 A.M., the start of another day. We fuel, grease and do any required maintenance the night before.
While I am moving boulders back from the cliff face, the blasting crew is loading the explosives. These knobs of rock didn't get shattered in the last blast. Sometimes that happens. Along with the high cliff, these knobs get re-blasted.
Wednesday we took a break while the cliff face was blasted.
This blast cost around $25,000. It will provide us with product to crush and process for about a month. The two large rocks at the top of the pile will get hammered into smaller pieces before crushing.
Next week I'm working on an elementary school project. Demolition starts Monday morning so stay tuned.

You got a pretty cool job! 😎
Thank you. Most days I like it, but as with all jobs it does have it's down days!
School Demolition on Monday, it will start slow, but I should get some interesting video at some point.
From Dynamite to grade school? You're a man of many talents @roundhere!
We hire out the actual drilling and blasting. Sometimes I do the prep work. It's pretty cool when the blast goes off. I have to get a better camera for video, maybe a go pro, cause my hands aren't free!
My kid has a go pro. He mounts it on the dash when he's flying, or riding motocross. He set it in the backyard one night and time lapsed the stars it was pretty cool!
Good idea. Time lapse.
Soon I will spend most of my work time driving truck, I will look for a go pro that can be dash mounted.
It's a pretty cool blast!
