One More Day

We are supposed to increase, advance and further develop, because we are Life and because we are Life: we have all that Life is as our potential, we have all the properties, qualities and characteristics of Life. We have all of Life's nature, purpose and tendencies at our exposure. How amazing is that?

Whether our thoughts, ideas, beliefs, expectations and images are commanding or limiting us, life will respond accordingly, and will become the physical / experimental manifestation mirroring our internal state. The shape, quality and development of our bodies are essentially an extension of our state of mind.

The seasons the sunshine the growing of seeds, heat and cold, the life of a child, the harvest. These are not theory and the same authority that runs the universe on such precision, also gave us rules to obey. These rules are still in force. The spiritual and moral laws are as important as the physical laws, and each person is going to be what he chooses to live.

We are spinning our own fates, good or evil, never to be undone. Every smallest stroke of virtue or of vice leaves it's ever so little scar. The drunken Rip Van Winkle in Jefferson's play, excuses himself for every fresh dereliction by saying "I won't count this time." Well! he may not count it, but it is being counted none the less. Down among his nerve cells and fibers, the molecules are counting, registering and storing up to be used against him when the temptation comes next.

We are laying the foundation for our future happiness or misery by the things we are sowing now, in our marriages and family lives, in our relationships with others, including nature and in all our lives. What would you have if your reaping were finished today, if all that you have sent out were to be restored to you today?

Suppose your time to pass along had come. Could you plead with confidence as did Hezekiah ( 2 Kings 20: 3)? Consider how you would answer the following questions. Have you offended someone and not apologized? Are the things you do and say each day, help to make the world and you better? What if your eternal rewards were based on the manner you treated your spouse, children and pets? Are there other questions that it might be wise to consider now while there is still time?

Thank God for one more day! For what? For the opportunity to take care of some unfinished business. To repent, to right some wrongs, to influence some wayward entity for good, to reach out to someone who cries for help. In short, to be thankful for one more day.

Don't try to live too many days ahead. Seek for strength to attend the problems of the day.
