Stupid! When We Like Saying Busy

A few years ago I was a student at a university in Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh Province, Indonesia. While studying, I also work as a photographer in a studio.

So one day, there were some friends who invited me to join a humanitarian organization (when Aceh was in a conflict condition). But I humbly stated that I did not have time, I was busy with my learning activities and also with work. Then my friend named Lalok said "stupid" with a loud voice. So I wonder why he dare say I'm stupid?

There were several interpretations at that time with the stupid words that Lalok had spoken to me. First, am I stupid for not joining the organization? or I am stupid because it only remains consistent with the status of studio photographer and student.

I am a little annoyed with those words. But I do not want to show anger in front of my friends. Because what they did then was a very noble activity to help civilians who suffered greatly from the conflict in Aceh. I then went home and I still thought, why Lalok dare to declare me stupid with me refusing to join him.

A few days later, I again met with Lalok. He again offered the same thing. But I casually and slightly annoyed still declared unable to join because I was busy. He was back throwing stupid words to me.

Because this meeting was only between me and Lalok, so I tried to question why he dared to declare me stupid. Then he casually replied. "By declaring yourself a busy person, then you have stated that your life has been controlled by time, not you who set that time".

I was stunned, not understanding what is meant by Lalok. Then he again questioned me.
"Whether your life is now governed by time or you who determines the time If you are smart, then surely you who set the time. How much activity you have, if you can manage time, then you have become a great and highly motivated person to live on. "I was speechless with the statement of Lalok. Initially certainly less able to understand what is meant by the word "We who set the time or time that govern our lives,".

Day by day, month to month, and year after year, I have not been able to give a definite meaning to my friend Lalok's statement. When I became a journalist, I started many relationships, including some successful people who lived in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

I say, Boestani, he's a police officer. Currently in the police alone has two duties as an investigator in criminal law and also a police chief in the region Meurah Mulia, North Aceh.

Besides, he has a number of independent businesses. He still has time to sit with his friends including with me. He is currently taking the Doctor's surge at a University in North Sumatra, Indonesia. What's more, what I just learned, he's trying to take the time to teach his kids at night and of course there's still time to work out to keep fit.

So one day when I was talking with Boestani, I had time to question how he can do all the activities that very much is, then casually he answered. "We have to be good at dividing time, never plant in our brain, with busy words,".

Another example of my acquaintance, Pak Ulis. He is a restaurant entrepreneur. His restaurant in almost all Aceh provinces, even in other provinces. He is a legislator in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province.

He also has many other business units. Yet I see he is still a cheerful man and still has time to gather with his friends, to joke. So I also ask how to manage all the businesses that are everywhere. To him casually replied "clever we divide the time"

From these conditions, then I conclude stupid to declare that we are busy people. With a busy statement it will make us not creative and lazy.
As well as agree with the statement of Lalok my friend used to be, we have to take control to manage time. Not the other way around.

The point I want to conclude. Only a fool who often claims that he is busy. What is your opinion? Please comment on this post
