Sunflower
With alluring sunny colors, sunflowers have many unique facts that you may not know about. Flowers with Latin names Helianthus annuus L. is famous for its typical behavior that is always the sun face towards the sun. Sunflower is usually used as an ornamental plant and is a good oil-producing plant. The sunflower is actually made up of thousands of tiny flowers. The iconic yellow petals and the brown center are actually the original flower itself, and then there are as many as 2,000 other flower petals that make up the sunflowers you normally see.
You have to harvest the sunflower in the morning. If you wait until the afternoon, the flowers will wither and not be beautiful to be a flower arrangement for decoration.
Sunflower is a genuine flower of America. Cultivated in North America as far back as 3000 BC, when they were developed for food, medicine, dyes, and oil. Later, it was exported worldwide by Spanish travelers around 1500.
Sunflower seeds that have been dried can be a natural bird bait. Just like you, birds also really like the delicious quaci you normally eat.

The French word for sunflower is "Tournesol," which means "turn into the sun." At the bud stage, the sunflower really will search and face the sun, called heliotropism.
Sunflower has been widely grown to help absorb nuclear radiation. Apparently not only has a beautiful appearance, sunflower can actually absorb toxins as well. Millions of flowers were planted after the devastating tsunami that destroyed the nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan.
Sunflower has a history of healing. In Mexico, this flower is considered to cure chest pain. Cherokee nation uses infusion of sunflower and its leaves to treat kidney disease.
Has traveled into space. In 2012, US astronaut Don Pettit brought some sunflower seeds to the International Space Station. Pettit regularly blogs about the growth of shoots and takes photographs of every process of gardening.
Can be used as a cleaning tool. After the flower head is empty of the seeds, this flower can be converted into abrasive pads for your cleaning job.
It takes a lot of space and sunshine. With good sunlight lighting, this flower can grow as high as 16 feet, with a growing span of 6-8 hours a day and more. Flowers planted too close together will not bloom maximally, because it must be given enough distance between one flower with the other.
