Consistency matters
A couple of days ago, I was listening to a podcast about perseverance...
Neither talent, nor desire, nor contacts can beat the results of daily effort, in any field. In theory, it sounds nice, but in practice, it's tiring and sometimes you want to ‘throw in the towel’. These are very human internal experiences; we're not always going to be 100% motivated. It's absolutely normal to feel this way.
But some projects, in order to move forward, require continuous work, sometimes daily, sometimes sustained, even if deep down we don't want to. When the long-term reward is worth it, the idea is to learn to tolerate the short-term discomfort. This is how some people manage to undergo very long training sessions, for example, to participate in a competition.
