Record-Breaking Transfer: Neymar Will Switch From Barcelona To PSG For €222 Million!
Neymar is one of the most well-known football (soccer) players of our time.
He is currently playing at FC Barcelona - but now he wants to transfer to Paris Saint-Germain for the record-breaking fee of € 222 Million.
This transfer has been all over the news lately - not only because of the large fee, but also because the Spanish league didn't want to accept the payment and the whole issue might even be taken to court.
I have always been a big lover of football and an active football player myself, so I just had to share an event as important as this one on my Steemit Blog!
About Neymar
The 25-year old Brazilian grew up in a poor neighborhood in the suburbs of Sao Paolo, and began playing football at FC Santos at the age of 11.
It didn't take long until his trainers realized his immense potential, and he was being titled as "child prodigy" and "the next Robinho".
At the age of 13, he then completed a training camp hosted by Real Madrid, who were immediately impressed by his talent.
But Neymar was loyal to his hometown club and kept playing for FC Santos - until 2013, when he signed his contract with FC Barcelona and moved to Spain.
Transfer to Paris Saint-Germain
Yesterday, news went public that Neymar will indeed be transferring from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain.
Neymar had been very quiet about this deal - but it seems like he will become a PSG player until the end of the week.
The release clause for him stands at €222 million - a new record sum that PSG will have to pay to Barcelona.
This breaks the previous record of Pogba's transfer to Manchester United last summer for €105 million.
Neymar will be signing a five-year deal in Paris, earning €30 million a year.
Why is Neymar leaving Barcelona?
Messi definitely plays a big part in his decision.
Neymar used to be a prodigy, but arrived in Barca to always play in Messi's shadow.
Also, he had to rival with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish League.
At Paris, he would be the star player and the core of an already amazing team.
Neymar also wants to win the Ballon d'Or, so having a team where he stands out and maybe being able to win the Champions League would be his best bet.
Transfer Rejection?
After the big news of the transfer went public yesterday, there were a lot of headlines surrounding the Brazilian superstar once again today: FC Barcelona was rejecting the €222M payment from PSG.
The reason?
Barcelona was dissatisfied with PSG's financial situation, stating that they weren't acting according to the FIFA's rules to Financial Fair Play.
These rules basically don't allow clubs to spend more than they earn - in which case there would be some personal investments involved. Barcelona hints that this is the case with the €222M transfer, and that PSG wants to close the deal on some additional funds from investors.
"Even if PSG do not meet the release clause we are going to report them. We have already warned the president of Paris Saint-Germain that we would do so and we see that PSG's policy has continued in the same manner. They cannot invent some numbers where their commercial rights exceed those of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Nobody believes that."-La Liga president Javier Tebas
After a whole day of uncertainty and back-and-forth discussion, PSG finally announced a few hours ago that Neymar's transfer deal is complete.
Barcelona accepted the payment in the end, and Neymar will indeed start his career at PSG as early as saturday.
During his 4 years in Barcelona , he managed to score 105 goals in 186 games - how will his future in Paris turn out?
Are you a football fan? What do you think about this record-breaking transfer?

It's ridiculous how much these athletes gets paid. What if we paid our teachers that much? Think we would a better education system?
Do you understand that most of the money they get is actually being paid from the advertising hype right? On top of the money, they get from tickets, watchers and partnerships. They should also pay taxes! And in this regards, I think the law should be like the income system for workers... the more you win, the more you should pay. And not something flat like it is (I believe) in Europe.
It would be nice to think it would be possible, but if you check the economics of the "game", you quickly understand why these things move a lot of money.
Outrageous ! World class sale from Barcelona and what a stupid buy from PSG. For that amount of money they would be able to buy three world class players. Barcelona is the one that is winning here. For anybody interested in soccer I am running a Steemit Premier League fantasy game. Feel free to join. :)
Ayeeee
all mafia
What is this anime called?
Player with players in the largest professional stadium; @momochsim
Love it when I hear such interesting news directly from fellow Steemians!
They will need to get a way to pay that money because of the finance fair-play its not allowed to sell a player for a so high value
Yes, that's what I read too. But in the end they made a direct payment to Barca and now the deal seems to be settled.
Yeah they get what they want for sure, lets see if worth it :)
Well football is one of my favorite sport, and it's really great that you've shared this post, i really love football. Lol
La Liga Española no acepta el dinero del PSG por venir subvencionado directamente de Qatar... veremos lo que pasa.
I am a football fan @sirwinchester and my all time favorite teams are Liverpool and Real Madrid!
I personally think this is a wrong move for this amazing player, France football league is not as competitive as Spain and I don't see PSG winning the Champions League at all, not sure to be in the quarters! This will be the end of his career for sure!
Cheers
