RE: The Taboo of Not Wanting Children
Nice write, it's better in the west and in Europe, here in Africa once u make that decision its like u are an outcast Even to your own family members, it sickens me to see the level of self centeredness, ethics dissolution and abrupt injustices in our system as many people bring in new humans to continue suffering from where they stop. So many jumps into procreation without even thinking or planning the welfare of the child they want to bring into the world 🌍. I pray we see the light some day here as our population explosion is draining our natural resources. We can go on and on talking about this matrix and illusion sold to us by our parents and colonial masters but the one truth that still stands is we all knw ourselfs and what we want out of life.
Nice write up once again and welcome to steemit, hope we have great time with you. ☺
Hello, thanks for the comment, I'm not surprised to hear that the aftermath of making such a decision has possibly more negative implications in Africa, I don't mean to sound ignorant but do you think it has anything to do with religion too in Africa? Yes I totally agree some people just plod along doing what they are taught they should and think it will make them happy, I was often told by my mother growing up "welcome to the real world" , or "sucks to be a grown up doesn't it", I often hear people I know too saying to their kids "it's just life", or "life is hard". It infuriates me, as the children's world view could be so much different, but the parent's unhappiness and narrow mindedness is just passed along and the next generation of suffering ensues. Obviously this does not apply to everyone by no means, but at least from my perspective it's quite common. At least some of us are thinking outside the box and about bigger issues at hand, and actually recognising what we feel and want ourselves. :)
It all has to do with religion and ethics here. Religion is the bedrock for a the fundamental control of human behavior, when we came into the world our mind was filled with so much expection nothing was impossible for us, then came in religion and ethical believes to set limit for us. But from my own perspective many has lost their way between religion and ethical beliefs mixing both together thereby causing excess psychological pressure and societal misconception about how to live and be happy. But am happy I can now see the light now and make my own decisions cos I see so many wrongs been label as right and injustice as justice especially with the African woman, Many have been enslaved not only physically but also in spirit, and I see change coming soon.
