A Time I Almost Gave Up - And What Kept Me Going
There was a time I seriously thought about giving up.
Not because I didn’t want to grow, but because progress felt invisible. I was putting in effort, trying to improve myself, learning new things — yet nothing seemed to change on the outside.
It was frustrating.
I remember questioning myself quietly: “Am I even moving forward, or am I just wasting my time?”
What made it harder was comparison. Seeing others appear to move faster, achieve more, and figure life out made my own journey feel slow and insignificant.
But what kept me going wasn’t a sudden breakthrough or motivation speech.
It was a simple realization: quitting would guarantee that nothing changes.
I didn’t suddenly feel confident or inspired. I just decided to keep showing up — imperfectly. Some days I gave my best. Other days I barely did enough. But I stayed.
Looking back now, I see that growth was happening quietly. My mindset was shifting. My patience was strengthening. My ability to stay consistent was improving, even when results weren’t obvious.
That experience taught me that giving up is often tempting right before progress begins to take shape.
If you’re in a season where quitting feels easier than continuing, I hope this reminds you that slow growth is still growth.
What’s something you almost gave up on — and what made you keep going, or stop?
