For the right guidance, here are some of the exercises you should do for improving your heart health, and some of the exercises you should avoid if you have a heart condition :

  • Weight training
When it comes to weight training for heart health, it could have wonderful results. But at the same time, it’s extremely crucial to determine which kinds of weight training you should go for and which kinds you should avoid. It will help you strengthen your muscles, bones, and heart while reducing fats and bad cholesterol from your body.
  • Circuit
The faster we work out, the more we make our heart pump blood to our body at a faster rate. This could increase the heart function and also make the blood vessels more flexible. An effective way to go about it is circuit training, which will help you gain that strength of heart. Again, intervals are important here as well, and a person can alternate between upper body and lower body after each interval to minimize tension.
  • Yoga
Apart from being a mental meditation, yoga can have several physiological effects, such as stabilization of blood pressure, making your core strong and making the blood vessels more flexible. These things can definitely improve your heart health.
  • Swim
This one is definitely my favorite. Swimming is amazing because it doesn’t involve repetition of the same thing again and again. If you’re like me, a kind of a person who gets bored in the gym because of diligently repeating the same thing over and over again mindlessly, you should probably try this creative and freer kind of a sport where you can do whatever you want and move your body however you want. Gym still has its importance and requires mindfulness and focus. It’s a great way to go about with your heart health. however, swimming could be more fun for some people, more creative and also involves your entire body into movement. As a tip, if you are looking for maximum results, you must go for lane swimming rather than leisure swimming.
  • Non-impact all body
There are different sports that make use of a specific part of your body rigorously and hence it’s particular to that area. However, there are other sports which can involve your entire body to move and work out, which could be an amazing way to exercise your heart. By making all of our muscles active, we can improve the amount of blood reaching our body parts due to improved activity of the heart. It also ensures that too much strain and exhaustion is not put to a single part of the body and therefore lets you escape the recovery time after each session. However, it’s still recommended to keep a significant interval between every two sessions.

Conclusion
While doing all these exercises, make sure that you avoid the ones that aren’t suitable for you if you have a heart condition. First of all, completely eliminate the thought of being hard on yourself when it comes to workout. You must understand what your limits are, and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Don’t overestimate your stamina and capacity, otherwise, it could lead to trouble. With that being said, you must also avoid doing too much of a work-out that you haven’t done before. you should also avoid long running or jogging. The best and most heart-friendly way to go about exercising for your health is lane swimming. So, get out and have some fun in the pool.

I was a part of the 100 boys and girls that were being screened into the Navy few years ago. We were made to go through rigorous exercises to make some of us quit. We had to run very long distances at high speeds and climb rocks too. Some people fainted in the process, and it was later disclosed that they had HEART CONDITIONS. I didn't make it into the Navy.

Not all exercises are okay for our hearts, especially if your heart can't cope with the rapid contraction and expansion.
