"... YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO GOD'S PROPOSAL, EVEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY ASSEMBLING YOUR OWN DIRECTION ..."

The story of Abu Yazid Al-Busthami, God willing, we can take lessons;
Aside from a Sufi, Abu Yazid was also a teacher of Sufism. Among his congregation, there was a student who diligently followed his recitation.

One time, the student complained to Abu Yazid, "Teacher, I have worshiped for thirty years. I pray every night and fast every day, and I leave my lust, but strangely, I have not found the spiritual experience that Teacher told me.
I have never witnessed anything Teacher described.

Abu Yazid replied, "If you fast and worship for three hundred years, you will not reach even one point in this knowledge."

The student was surprised, "Why, sir, Master?"

"Because you are closed by yourself," answered Abu Yazid.

"Is there a cure, so that the hijab is revealed?" Asked the student.

"You can," said Abu Yazid, "but you won't do it."

"Of course I will," said the student.

"Well then," said Abu Yazid, "now go to the barber, shave (your hair) on your head and your beard, take off your clothes, wear a worn and tattered shirt."
Hang it around your neck with a bag of nuts. Go to the market, gather as many small children there as possible.

Tell them aloud "Hi kids, whoever of you wants to slap me one time, I give one bean bag."
Then go to your (also) market (where) your worshipers often admire you. "

"Subhanallah, you say this to me, is this good for me to do?", The student said in surprise.

Abu Yazid said, "The words of your rosary are shirk."

The student was astonished, "Why is that so?"

Abu Yazid replied, "Because (you seem to be praising God, when in fact) you are praising yourself."

the student said, "I can't do it, show me another way I can do it."

Abu Yazid said: "Start with this before the others, until your great feelings disappear, and you feel inferior, then I will tell you what is good for you."

The student replied: "I can't do it."

Abu Yazid said: You really won't be able to do it! "

This story contains very valuable lessons, including:
1- Abu Yazid taught that people who worship frequently are easily affected by ujub and takabur.
2- Abu Yazid encouraged his students to practice being a despicable person so that his ego and desire to stand out and be respected soon disappeared, all that remained was a feeling of tawadhu and humility.
3- Amazement often occurs among people who worship a lot. People often feel that the worship they have done is more than enough so he demands God to pay the reward of the charity he did.
4- People who like to worship often fall into a feeling of height. Worship is used as a way to improve its status in the community. That person will be disappointed if not given an adequate place of status.

  1. Crowded who fail to understand that the term we worship and make dhikr in essence is not we who worship and dhikr to Allah, but the grace of God to our spirits and bodies to interpret His remembrance to Himself through the sharing of the Spirit and our bodies to the Self The Supreme Qayyum. That is the charity of Allah (from His nature) to Himself (Essence) which zahir on His mazhar on our bodies. Praise God!

May Allah protect us from the nature of MAZMUMAH ZULUMAT.
