Strategies to Increase the Decreased Motivation in Life?
Everyone is unique, and your motivation might have been at a different level when you first started your job. Think back to the day you got that initial job offer, when waking up was hard, and you felt unmotivated. Remember how excited you were then.
However, something changed since that day. What caused those changes? What can you do to regain your earlier motivation?
If we were in a coaching session, we could explore specific reasons together, but right now, I want to provide some general strategies that can help everyone.
When your motivation dips, it can be tough to get to work. Here are some small steps you can take to get back on track:
Consider why you chose this job and what your goals are. I’m sure your answer goes beyond just earning money. Why is this job important to you when there are other ways to make a living? Identifying your short-term and long-term goals can help spark your motivation.
Large goals can feel overwhelming. Instead, create small daily goals for yourself. This way, you can better enjoy the feeling of progress and success. Plus, it allows you to check things off a visual list as you complete each goal.
Connect your work to your personal values. Think about why what you do matters to you and those around you. This can change your view of work from a simple task to something meaningful. What would be lost if someone else took your place?
Working non-stop can kill your motivation. Sometimes, stepping away for fresh air or a quick walk can boost your energy when you return. For me, a break often means enjoying a nice cup of plain Turkish coffee. What helps you recharge?
Look for aspects of your job that excite you. Engaging in projects that align with your interests can make your work more enjoyable.
Talk more with your colleagues. Supporting one another and celebrating achievements can lift everyone’s spirits. Good communication creates a positive work environment. If you're feeling shy around coworkers, try to reach out to someone today to build a better connection.
