Another day, another jog

in #life7 years ago

I know its rather early in the day again, and as much as I like to post at the end of the day, Im going to be out late tonight, and besides that, I dont want to forget the distance I ran, and so on, so this is my way of logging it.

I extended my route again today, and I didnt know how far it was when I was jogging it, which I think is a good thing. If I knew it was 2km by a certain point, I just might convince myself that stopping anywhere beyond that is justified or even necessary simply because Id never really jogged that far before. As it was, however, I had no idea how far I had gone, so I simply stopped and walked when I ACTUALLY needed to, and now its set the standard for other jogs. The total route of my jog was 3.35 km, and I stopped and walked about 0.25 km of it, which means I jogged a total of 3.1 km today!

Thats really miraculous to me because I dont think Ive ever jogged so far at one time IN MY LIFE!!! Ive never been very good at cross-country running; when I was in public school I favoured the 400m and the 800m jogs because most people started out too fast and didnt pace themselves, but I was okay at that, I just couldnt last for much longer. Then, in later years, whenever I took up jogging I never lasted long enough to jog more than 1.5 km, so Im pretty proud that my resolve has held out this long. I actually really enjoy jogging, and its something I appreciate more with every time I do it.

So when I first started out this blog I said that this would be a place for me to record my random thoughts, and I had a random thought today while I was out. It was this: I am SO grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed me with such a healthy body, and that I am even ABLE to go jogging, and that I can worry about things like my health, and getting in shape. When I was younger I had a back infection which, if untreated, would have resulted in my spine collapsing, and I am just so thankful that Heavenly Father gave me the chance to have this body, and that I can do so many great things with it that I couldnt do if I was paralysed. On top of that, arent our bodies miracles? Like, sucking nutrients from the food we eat through the walls of our intestines, and that providing enough health and nourishment to sustain us?! I think if I lived a few hundred years ago and someone told me that that is how our digestive system works, I would have thought he was a lunatic, because the idea is just SO crazy and amazing.

And my last thought on bodies and working out is this: I was walking around the track yesterday with Titi, and we were watching a step class in progress, and it struck me how ridiculous these people looked, and the great lengths to which we will go simply to get in shape. Is this is a new thing on earth, for its inhabitants to spend an hour or two a day moving their bodies in really wacky ways just so that they can LOOK better, or FEEL better?! Not that Im knocking step classesIm pretty sure I look even more moronic in aquafit, its just funny, thats all.

Anyway,  there are my random thoughts for today! So Im going to type out my stats for the day and then sign off, because I want my mid-afternoon snack!

Weight: Okay, so I know I wasnt supposed to weigh myself, but the Boy turned to me and said, Have you lost more weight? Because you look like you have, and I just couldnt resist weighing myself to see for myself. And sure enoughI was down to 159.8!!!!! GO ME! Thats 11 lbs down! Hes now changed the conditions for the ipod though, and now Im not allowed to weigh myself again until Monday. Thats when Ill start the weekly weigh-in thing, which I am now totally for, because it is OH so exciting to step on the scale after a few days and be DOWN. Not that I care about numbers. ;)

Workout: Jogged 3.1 km (YAY!) and walked 0.8 km (and all that in 33 minutes!)

Junk food: None!!! Second day in a row! Although, I just discovered that if I have fat and sugar free pudding, it doesnt count as junk food, but rather as having some dairy, so Im going to try it.

P.S. I forgot one thing. I started to get a headache while jogging, but I was so close to the end that I pushed myself anyway instead of walking. Do any joggers out there know if thats okay for you, or really bad? I figure that it cant be TOO bad because I was well hydrated, and because eventually I can run the same route and have no headache, but I thought Id ask.
