The Individual as a Piece of the Whole; Seeing the Bigger Picture
Whether we look at it from the physical side, Mother Earth, or the spiritual side, Father God, all humans share the same source. We are connected through consciousness, a web of relationships that is the amalgamation of every human on the Earth. We may choose to perceive ourselves as "who we think we are" the person in the body who has a name and memories and past experiences, the "Ego" if you will. Or we may choose to perceive ourselves as a piece of humanity as a whole. To see ourselves outside of the Ego is to step into the perspective of the "neutral observer" who sees all experiences in a larger context and simply observes what is happening while searching for the "meaning" or the "truth" in the experience.
When we choose to perceive our experience from the point of view of the neutral observer we unlock for ourselves a myriad of doors which otherwise remain closed. To observe ourselves from this point of view is to perceive our lives and the experiences therein within a bigger picture. It is to understand ourselves as a piece of the whole. When we understand that we are connected to every other human on the Earth we can begin to see that our experiences, or rather how we respond to our experiences (in both action and thought) affects all of humanity. When we have any experience it is, in its entirety, "recorded" into the consciousness of all humans. When we have an experience we are creating a memory that is stored inside the global psyche, available for all humans to "tap into" and benefit from. When we allow ourselves this perspective we can gain much more insight as to why we have certain experiences and situations enter our reality.
This takes our understanding of who we are, what we're doing here and what it all means to an entirely new level. When we choose to experience reality from the point of view of the neutral observer we no longer will feel that any outside force or other person is exerting its will upon us, we no longer perceive ourselves as the "victim" of any situation. This allows us the freedom from any "negative experience" as we no longer see it as happening TO us but rather THROUGH us. We see the experience as an opportunity to bring forth an appropriate, loving, and positive response that all of humanity will benefit from by understanding that it has been "uploaded" into the entire global psyche.
The goal herein is for us to begin to "step out of ourselves" and begin to look deeper into all of our experiences both positive and negative and see how they fit into a bigger picture. We are all a piece of the Universe (God, Source, whichever you prefer) a piece that is simply the conduit for bringing into reality truths and experiences for the benefit of humanity as whole.
To turn inwards in our search for truth is to acknowledge the essential role of the individual in bringing forth truth for humanity as a whole.
