RE: Last Week I Attempted to End My Life and Woke Up in the Hospital.

in #life9 years ago

Hey, we all go through some shit in life, i too have been. There is a reason why people should have some sort of hobb/passion, doesnt matter which, also having a pet like a dog or even an aquarium will help.. Problem with certain humans like us is we are too emotional and get hurt easily when our trust is broken or back stabbed, etc, which has been the main cause of depression, due to which some commit sucide. Medications can never help in my opinion, infact they will make you worst. According to my experience the best thing is to have a pet or a hobby, or just go for tracking all alone in wilderness. Nature is the best healer.

Sort:

I have a pet and she does help but I happen to disagree on the meds as I have seen them change people's lives. Also everyone source of depression is different. I was essentially human trafficked by my father as a child so I have some serious trauma that needs to be worked through. I don't think walking into nature will fix it though I do love nature! (less enjoyable when you literally just sit and pee and cry all day tho ;) ) So yeah, first step is to get my bladder in check, second is to go back into nature.

Im sorry, i didnt know that. But i feel you need to leave that place where u went through this.. Secondly i dont know if you are an animals lover (strays), but i now work at a stray shelter on weekends and it has helped me alot. As for meds, they have just given a temporary relief, atleast for me. Thanks for the reply though.. :)

It isn't that simple. Hence getting therapy. You dont just let go of years of physical, sexual, and mental abuse in your most developmental years easily. There is no shame in therapy. I literally AM taking steps to let go. :)

Anything that heals you in anyway and takes you one step forward to the goodness is good :)

We are 100% agreed there! And mindset definitely helps. I am certainly in a more positive one now. Total 180. I just need to combine that with the therapy. ^_^

and my cat really does help big time. I have had her 8 years now. We are besties.

I enjoy different view points I hope you don't take me as argumentative. Just trying to provide my perspective. :)

Nope i dont, as every individual is different and has different ways.. good to see u back on steemit.. :)

Thank you. I agree. I love that about Steemit. The diversity. [: Imagine how boring a world would be with no diversity? Bleh.

It also depends on what the individual thinks will work and wants to work to some extent. It's not a one shoe fits all sort of thing though. I support whatever a person wants to do to deal with their depression as long as it isn't hurting people. :)
