Stop trying. Do it or don't.
I'll try to be there on time
I'll try to lose weight
I'll try to exercise
I'll try to get my life in order
I'll try to do better
I'll try to meditate.
The word "try" is weak.
It means you're not going to give it 100%.
It gives you a get out of jail free, Oh I tried but...
If you want something, do it.
To the best of your ability.
Don't be half arsed.
Give it your full attention.
If you don't know how, ask or Google it.
This used to be me.
I've "tried" and given up many times.
This behaviour stopped when I saw it didn't work. I found a different approach.
A simple mind hack.
I stopped using "try."
I used other words to state my intention:
"I'll try to have the report ready for Friday"
changed to
"The report will be on your desk by 9am Friday."
"I'll try to get there on time"
became
"I'll be there on time"
"I'll meditate for 5 minutes this morning"
not
"I'll try to meditate."
See the difference?
My favourite movie quote is from the Star Wars franchise:
Master Yoda to Luke Skywalker:
"Do or do not. There is no try"
Do this for a week:
Consciously stop yourself when you're about to say "try" in a sentence.
Use another word.
The words you think and say affect your mindset.
Stop using weak, negative words.
You will feel empowered.
So true Article, do it, not try to do
keep it up
