5 Tips for Shooting Ray of Light

Actually it is not difficult to shoot Ray Of Light, it's just that we need to observe the light well, be in the position and the right camera settings.
Some tips for shooting Ray Of Light (ROL) the following may be tried:

1. The morning in the highlands
In the morning just after sunrise, and on the plateau, usually a lot of fog is quite low, because the sun shines in the fog, that's when we can see the light bias quite clearly.

2. Taking pictures behind a tree/foliage
Trees and leaves can divide the sun's biased so that the lines of light appear more clearly.

3. Find a dark background
Backgrounds such as cliff walls, dark rooms, or lush trees will make Ray Of Light clearer because of the difference between dark and light contrast.

4. Use smoke to refract light
If there is no fog, you can use the smoke to get the Ray Of Light effect. Cigarette smoke and incense (hio) are two popular smoke-making tools. Create smoke in the path of light rays.

5. Camera exposure settings
Sunlight that is too bright can outwit the calculation of the camera's light (metering). The camera assumes the light is too bright, so choose settings to limit the light, the picture can be a bit dark.

Therefore, we often have to set the ISO. SHUTTER SPEED and ISO manual to get the desired light and dark. For openings on camera lenses, my suggestion is to use relatively small openings such as f/8-f/16 to limit light and increase sharpness.
