There's no place like home!

in #love7 years ago

When we decided with my husband 5 years ago that we leave our country behind we both knew it won't be easy. We arrived to the UK with one 20 kg luggage packed with our 'life' and hopes. We didn't know what to expect, we didn't know how difficult it is going to be to start a completely new life in an other country.

I used to cry a lot in the first few months. Living abroad can be a very alienating experience. You’re far from friends, family or street-signs you can read.
Thanks God, I picked up the language easily. Wasn't a problem anymore to have a drink with my colleagues, to meet new people in the gym or to have a nice conversation on the bus with a random stranger.
Suddenly I had lots of friends from all over the world... Bristol gave me so many amazing, incredibly fantastic people and I can not be thankful enough for them.

But there was something I didn't expect at all.
I didn't expect that one day I will have to 'lose' these people. I didn't expect that one day they just show up on my doorstep and say; I decided, I will move back to my country.
I just can't get used to it. Every time this happens to me I am just standing there heartbroken knowing that my life will NEVER be the same again.

I heard so many goodbyes in this 5 years like never ever before and it makes my heart ache.
Do you think guys it will get easier with the time? How many goodbyes can fit in a lifetime? Because I have the feeling I can't take more...

My colleague and FRIEND moved back to Scotland yesterday. He gave me this handmade picture as a leaving present:

Welcome to Steemit @tinti! :c)

I think that one mistake that many people make in life is to not only enjoy the company of others but to allow themselves to grow dependent upon such.

This is more commonly the case in the event of 'love' but even friends can get too dependent - and then when somebody says goodbye, they feel it deep inside.

Take heart. They are not gone but are chasing their hopes and dreams - and today people can still keep in touch and visit each other - easier than ever before. :c)

By the way, since you're new here a quick read through this post may prove helpful.
