Minnesota ICE Raid Sparks Outrage as Man Dragged Into Snow

French President Emmanuel Macron has delivered a sharp rebuke to Donald Trump, declaring that France and Europe “do not give in to bullies.”
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Macron condemned Trump’s threat to impose 200% tariffs on French wine and champagne if Europe refused to back his Greenland ambitions. Macron insisted that Europe would defend sovereignty and the rule of law, warning that yielding to “brutality” would lead to “vassalization.”
Trump had escalated tensions by publishing private messages from Macron, an unusual breach of diplomatic protocol. In the exchange, Macron questioned U.S. policy on Greenland and suggested hosting a G7 meeting with Russia. French officials confirmed the texts were authentic but criticized Trump’s decision to make them public.
EU leaders are now preparing emergency talks in Brussels, with retaliatory tariffs worth €93 billion on U.S. goods under consideration. Macron has also urged the bloc to deploy its “trade bazooka” — the Anti-Coercion Instrument — to counter Washington’s escalating measures.
The clash highlights the souring of U.S.–Europe relations, with analysts warning that Trump’s Greenland push risks sparking a full-blown trade war and fracturing NATO unity. Macron’s defiance positions France as the spearhead of European resistance, reinforcing his image as a defender of democratic principles against unilateral U.S. pressure.
