This is my entry for the 7 Days Steemit Macro-Photography Challenge by @flamingirl.

DRAGONFLIES

The obelisk posture is a handstand-like position that some dragonflies and damselflies assume to prevent overheating bon sunny days. They point the tip of their abdomen towards the sun to minimize the surface area that is under direct exposure.

I manage to get a good number of captures of the males including this one sitting on the purple flower. This image feels like tranquility, gratitude and deference to me. From the warm rich colours to the blowing posture of my subject looking towards the light.

It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly complex the eyes of these dragonflies are. It would truly be something to be able to see the world through their eyes for a day.
