I have thought about mining, but I am a bit concerned about the noise, and excessive heat. Maybe these concerns are not as extreme as I have imagined. Or, there are ways to handle these concerns. Without actually mining, I guess there is no way to tell.

I think it would just be something interesting to do, and perhaps be rewarded with a few satoshis.
