Eventide Panel Project - Part 2

in #marine9 years ago

This is a continuation from https://steemit.com/marine/@billbutler/eventide-panel-project-part-1.

I sourced some really nice wood from Funktionhouse in St. Petersburg, FL. I also used St. Pete Makers to trim the wood to fit. Special thanks to Erica Moulton for her help.

My plan is to replace this old panel:

With this really cool wood:

So I used this saw located at the St. Pete Makers space:

I also used an orbital sander and some Minwax Paste Finishing Wax to smooth the board after cutting it to size. Check out the final look. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

And finally, here is the panel, all wired up but not yet fully installed. The next episode will hopefully show the entire panel wired into place. after I cut the hole for it in the wood.

Well put together post. This series might have worked better as just one post. Steem optimal length is always tough to gauge. In this case, it's almost a how to, which means it would benefit from all being in 1 place.

Yup, he should combine these into one submission.

I think multiple post over the duration of the length of the project is perfectly acceptable. Its like a "Document as you go" type series, what is wrong with that?

Well, it's happening over several weeks so I just decided to make it a series. Thanks for the input.

I am a big fan of DIY. If I would start my life again I would hide myself in a garage and would spend my time building stuff.
Keep up the good work. It is inspiring!

Yeah, it's easy to forget all the cursing while trying to fasten 4 wires to one terminal.

@zebbra2014 down voting me for no fucking reason again. Get a life dude.
