Embroidery For MarketFriday

in #marketfriday6 years ago

Today I'd like to show you some handmade embroidery from the craft market I have attended last. I wanted to dedicate a whole post to this as it deserves it. Handmade embroidery is not easy, it takes time and patience as well, not to mention talent. After some practice you can learn it but there are people who are not capable of doing a nice work no matter how much they have practiced. That's life, some are good ant one thing, others are good at other things and that's why art is so colorful.

This is a cropped image of an apron. It's part of a Transylvanian folk costume that Hungarian are wearing at festive occasions. As you can see the embroidery is not perfect, it's visible that it's handmade. Black and red are typical colors, the costume is also black and red. The tulip is also typical.

Here's the costume, unfortunately is was the back of it.

There are two costumes here with the same embroidery along with embroidered table cloths, handmade necklaces and a lot of other things.

This is another costume with embroidered apron. The embroidery technique is similar, the pattern is different.

The lace is also handmade.

Summer dresses for little girls on the right, hand embroidered and with handmade lace and some kind of folk costumes on the left. I fail to recognize the region that these costumes are from.

This is another interesting piece, it's some kind of home blessing and it's in German, made by the local German community.

A similar one in red this time.

There were some very interesting pieces here, especially the red one on the right. That was very interesting, caught my eye right away.

More Romanian folk costumes.

IMG_20190517_110555a.jpg

And more, plus a bag with floral embroidery that I've never seen before.

IMG_20190517_110550a.jpg

There are some belts on the right also hand embroidered wit floral motifs.

There are more on the table and some handmade bead jewelry.

IMG_20190517_110528a.jpg

Hey @erikah, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

Many thanks

Wow! You always wow me with your amazing posts, every single week. The embroidery is totally worth a blog or more. I just love handwork of all kinds.

My grandmother and mother taught the girls in the family how to embroider dresser scarves when we were young. Oh! And pillowcases. They were so fun to do and it was work that could be done on a rainy day or a cold winter day after the fun came inside. We loved it and we could make my mother a gift costing almost nothing.

These articles of clothing were wonderful and the intricate work done on the shirt of that young man was beautiful. It is almost a lost art as so much of the embroidery is done by machine, which cannot even compare. I will not buy it and refuse to acknowledge that as embroidery.

Thank you for showing off how embroidery was used to define your region of the country you are from and how decorative it makes a plain cotton cloth. Gorgeous work and what a fun place to visit!

Thank you and thank you for your constant support of #MarketFriday! I am thankful for people like yourself. Have a most wonderful night!

#MarketFriday loves you!
