The 5 Golden Rules of Blogging
Blogging is a great way to build your online presence and to turn that presence into a business for yourself. However, blogging is not as easy as people make it out to be! Getting traction and growing your audience can be tough when you're just starting out.
And there are many things you should be aware of.
In this post, I'll share some of the golden rules of blogging that you have to follow if you want to grow your blog and your audience.

1 Your Blog is NOT about you!
This is the first thing you should be aware of.
I see so many people that just talk about themselves. Those kinds of blogs rarely (if ever) get anywhere! And that's because as a blogger you must focus on your readers, not yourself!
What goals and problems does your target audience have?
Create content that benefits your reader!
2 Build Your Email List from Day 1
Email marketing is a powerful tool to grow your audience.
Even if people like your content, the chances of them coming back to your blog after they leave are slim. They simply forget and next time, they'll just go to Google again to search for information.
When you build your email list, you can send them an email whenever you have a new post.
It becomes an audience on demand!
3 Optimize for Both Readers AND Search Engines
I sometimes see people take either side:
People saying that you should just focus on writing great content and nothing else. Then there are people who heavily optimize their content for Google and other search engines, but not as much for their readers.
The sweet spot is in the middle.
You need great content for your readers in order to be successful. At the same time you also need to optimize it with the right keywords to rank your blog posts on Google and build links to help it rank.
Take either one away, and you have a losing formula!
4 Your work starts AFTER you hit publish!
This is where many bloggers go wrong.
They publish their article, feel satisfied and then sit back waiting for people to visit their blog. But unfortunately, that's just not how it works...
Instead:
You need to promote your content! Go on social media and build your audience there, be active in niche communities, look for more ways to build links, network, etc. Just make sure that you get the word out about your new article!
5 Don't go in alone!
Take this.
Bonus points for those who get the reference.
Pop culture aside, get active in the blogging community. It's a great way for you to get feedback on problems you're encountering, you just need to ask the question.
You can also get some mental support from time to time!
