How to make your Facebook event better?

in #marketing7 years ago

Because of average Facebook events I am encountering, I decided to make an article where I want to explain my point of view on creating Facebook events and to provide basic guidelines for everyone!

1. Cover photo

Although the content on the cover image depends largely on the type of event you are doing, it should be clear. Consider that 98% of people will watch the event on their mobile phone display, not on a computer. It’s OK to put the band names if it’s a music festival, but for most other types of events there is no need to put information into the cover image of the event.

What should you avoid?

Often, we see cover photo as invitation card.

The place and time of the event has nothing to do in the cover image of the event when it’s in the details of the event immediately below. Unnecessary duplication of information.

The content of the event also has no place in the cover image because no one will be able to read the small letters, and we can do it much better in the details of the event itself.

What should you put in?

The photo that will present the event, it may be some motive or a situation, it is important that the photo is clear and gives a message.

About the name of the event in the cover I still have doubts because I sometimes think it can be used effectively, but if not a name, then the short message the event wants to give. In short and capital letters, because I repeat, almost no one uses Facebook through the computer, we’re all on our smartphones.

2. Event description

Description should sell the event, very easy.

Potential participants need to know the schedule of events, they need to have an insight into how the event will look and what to expect, and it’s not a bad thing to write the schedule for more than four hours to bring them closer to the event and convince them to invest their time in your event.

Think about what the event participants will get when they leave the room after the end and hold on to it.

3. Event promotion

You don’t need to pay Facebook advertising.

Join Facebook groups that are in a way connected with the event and share it there, also invite all your friends, oldie that never gets old. Here are some examples:

  1. You are organizing event in a small town or community – join Facebook groups with name of the town/community and share event there
  2. You are organizing specific thematic event – join Facebook groups that gather fans of that specific topic and share it there
  3. Invite your friends, tell them to invite their friends and tell them to tell their friends to invite their friends

It’s important to create an event on time, at least two weeks before the start of the event, to have enough time to try out all forms of promotion and make sure that as many people find out about it.

Find someone who will do photos and the person who will be working on the video at the event so that later you have enough material to show what happened and create the basis for a similar event.
