Going into the subject, I must point out that Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), is a practical model of Psychological Theory, based on a set of mental preparation strategies, to activate effective and successful communication.
The creators of the NLP were Richard Bandler (he was a student of Psychology) and John Grinder (professor of Linguistics), both of the University of California. They identified the patterns used by the best psychiatrists and developed models of functional therapies; They took those patterns, purified them and built an elegant model that can be used for effective communication, personal change, accelerated learning and of course greater enjoyment of life.
What is NLP?
Continuing with the definitions, we have to be such a complicated issue, to be able to explain it better, it is necessary to break down the three words that make up NLP:
1.- Programming, is the process of design and creation of codes, based on a set of instructions, with the purpose of developing or implementing a program oriented towards a specific and desired action or behavior.
In fact, it is understood that at all times, consciously and unconsciously and throughout our lives, we always incorporate, purify and execute programs to define our patterns of thoughts, sensations, words, behaviors, attitudes and omissions. As an example, we have that most of us are programmed to try to run, flee or attack, before the supposed imminent danger that means to see a "threatening" snake on our way.
2.- Neuro, consists in the way in which the design, creation, incorporation, debugging and execution of the programs, is carried out through our neurological system. In fact, both the data for the execution of the program, and the program itself, "enter" our brain, through our five senses as peripheral receptors (touch, hearing, sight, taste and smell), to be processed and transmitted by neurons in both directions, input and output, action and reaction.
3.- Linguistics: implies one of the great ways in which the programs executed in our brain are expressed, obviously through language in its different variants. Being the language the way, means and excellent alternative to exchange information, from there it is possible to be represented, to order, to process and to express the results of the mental processes programmed.
In accordance with the above, it is inferred that NLP is based on the programming (or reprogramming) of the mental structure of the human, based on its objective and subjective experience, to delineate a new linguistic and attitude model, in to analyze and improve these experiences, and to influence our effective and affective communication and behavior, in the best possible way; all this, in order to successfully achieve the goals, objectives and dreams, which lead to improve the quality of life.
Therefore, NLP is a practical methodology that helps to be fluent, to function better and to be more competent; through observation and action tools to optimize human communication processes; making use of specific techniques to know the internal processes of each person, which then allows them to positively modify their feelings, think, speak, act and omit.
That is, NLP is instrumented by developing practical skills to ensure compliance with the desired objectives by setting goals for each situation and mental aggravation to perceive the changes that occur, and obtain the objectives that we propose at a personal level, work and family, and to optimize our effective and affective relationships.
Philosophy and NLP?
On the other hand, Philosophy, on which NLP is based, affirms that we are the result of what we think, feel, say, do and omit; and in terms of the principle of cause and effect, what happens to us now is the product of our way of thinking, feeling, saying, doing and omitting in the past; Then, our future will be marked by our current way of thinking, feeling, saying, doing and omitting.
The above means that by positively changing the way of thinking, feeling, saying, doing and omitting, automatically change for the better, our own lifestyle, the environment that surrounds us and the optimization of results. It is there that by modifying the negative behavior patterns learned by positive and more effective thoughts and actions, we will obtain all we want, with a broader vision of reality; and with all this your success will be assured in the future.
It is to emphasize that with NLP, you will obtain the necessary tools to facilitate the good relation with the others, and to learn to decipher and to use properly the corporal language, to formulate substantial questions, to optimize meetings and businesses, to accelerate the processes of learning and to govern our mind and nervous system; which as a whole helps a lot to raise self-esteem and trust in the enormous potential that we all have but we use a little bit.
In Conclusion
Philosophy and NLP come together in a single "tool" for your well-being based on "Love for Wisdom and for Yourself". A proof of the indicated thing is in the fact that I have realized several subliminal sessions of NLP supported in the Philosophy, with those who have read my articles of the Tuesdays and the last Sunday, related to this subject; and I am sure that this is so unconsciously they have been very useful, with only a few small self-help data that I have indicated progressively.
Final Recommendation
This time I leave you a Mantra of Philosophy and NLP to Meditate with the beginning of the "Mental Reprogramming". This practice consists of 6 simple steps to clear the mind and free it from negative thoughts:
1.- Lie comfortably in your bed or sit in your favorite chair; You can really do it anyway, the most important thing is to be as relaxed as possible.
2.- Gently close your eyes, and start counting progressively from 1 to 10, slowly, very slowly.
3.- Start counting down from 10 to 1, but this time take into account that you must control your breathing and for each gentle process of inspiration and expiration, you will discount one by one ("inspire" 10, "expire" 9, "inspire" 8, "expire" 7, and so on).
4.- Restart the progressive count from 1 to 10, following your breathing, but now try to put your mind in white (use your imagination to "paint the mind white").
5.- To finish stop counting, because now for each inspiration/expiration process you will mention in your mind blank the Mantra SO-JAM; in such a way, when you inspiring you will say "SO", and when you expiring you will say "JAM" ("inspire" SO, "expire" JAM, "inspire" SO, "expire" JAM, ...).
6.- Continue saying the SO-JAM Mantra until you feel fully relaxed, or you want to leave meditation (I recommend opening your eyes softly and calmly), or you fall asleep
