Confirmed the villain of Marvel for 'Doctor Strange 2'

in #marvel8 years ago

Although 'Doctor Strange 2' has not yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios for the future of the MCU - and it was even rumored that it would not happen -, the studio still has something in mind with the sequel to the Supreme Sorcerer (Benedict Cumberbatch) if Things are progressing positively for the character. But, even if one day confirms 'Doctor Strange 2', the return of the entire creative team of the first film is not at all sure. That did not mean they did not have a plan on how the story should continue. For example, C. Robert Cargill, screenwriter who wrote the first film with director Scott Derrickson, recently revealed in a "Questions and Answers" session in Austin (Texas, United States) that, among other things, we already have a confirmed villain : Nightmare (Nightmare).

"Scott and I have not laid the foundations for this villain, but what I can say is that I have the feeling that whatever the enemy, Nightmare or Baron Mordo, has to be someone who defends the laws of nature or will have something to see with that, "explained the writer. Towards the end of 'Doctor Strange' (2016), Barón Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) took a darker path than the Supreme Sorcerer and revealed himself as someone markedly antagonistic in the face of a possible sequel. Cargill says there are great plans for that character in the second film, but his statements may also suggest a possible reconciliation with Stephen Strange in 'Doctor Strange 2':

"For all of you who have read the comics at some time, you know that Barón Mordo has a very particular history and that is something that we discussed with Chiwetel while we were working on the first film. And part of the reason why Chiwetel wanted to play Mordo was because it has a definitive ending as a character and that ending is very fascinating. I know that, whether we respect the original material or not, Marvel Studios plans to work towards that end and prove that Mordo is more than a classic and archetypal villain. They really want to take it to levels of genius similar to those of Loki, that's the purpose they have with him. " (Source: Comic Book Movie)
