Masons Temple. Detroit, MI.
One day, traveling around US cities, we stopped in Detroit.
The city seems to be post-apocalyptic in some places, but it can be recorded as an asset. This makes the city mysterious and interesting.
Arriving at the Masonic Temple, the impression of abandonment of the area where he was. No people, no cars. The building itself seemed to be under reconstruction, poorly cleaned. At the entrance there was a lot of rubbish, the feeling that the bums were sleeping there. After finding the entrance to the building we stepped to the closed booth. I rang a bell, and a miracle happened, the ticket office opened, a middle-aged woman was sitting behind it. Mysterious state :)
We wanted to get inside, but the cashier said that she needed to call the administration and coordinate the visit. A little later we went to the Mason’s Temple web site and were surprised that the building had some life. Concerts and other events are held. And by chance, this day is an evening tour of the Masonic Lodge. I note that in the last month or two it was the first tour. We bought tickets ($ 25) and in order to somehow pass the time until the evening, we continued to walk around the mysterious city :)
About 20 people gathered for the tour. We had 2 guides. We must pay tribute to the guides, they were on top! The impression was that these excursions were rarely conducted, since the "intimacy" of the whole action, the warmth and responsiveness of the guides was felt.
So nice
