Messianic Prophecy: A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. Isaiah 11:1

In the First Book of Isaiah there are several messianic prophecies related to the birth of Jesus. Isaiah was not only a doctor for Israel, he was also essentially a prophet of the eschatological hope. And these spiritual visions of the prophet have had a profound impact on the New Testament and the Christian faith, being probably the prophet most quoted by Jesus, Paul, and the other disciples of the divine master.
Isaiah was a prophet of the Kingdom of Judah, and he began his activity as a prophet before the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel.
Isaiah began his writings by denouncing that the nation of Israel had become like a vineyard that had not borne fruit; the people had lost the fear of God, and thus the covenant between God and his people was in question. But despite this, the prophet helped Kings Ahaz and Hezekiah, who ruled in Jerusalem, in the face of external threats such as Aram and the Assyrian Empire.
And after prophesying the destruction of Samaria at the hands of the Assyrian Empire, he made a prophecy about Jesus:
"A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of advice and power,
the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD.
He will gladly bear the fear of the LORD" Isaiah 11:1-3.
Isaiah foretold that a descendant of David, or rather a descendant of David's father, Jesse, would be born to fulfill God's will and thus accomplish His mysterious plan. This child, to be born in the future, whom he named Emanuel (Isaiah 7:14), would be filled with the Holy Spirit, and through this, the earth would be filled with the knowledge of God. A time of perversion and destruction like the one the prophet was experiencing in his kingdom would give rise to a change in humanity; a time of wisdom, mercy (compassion, gentleness, kindness), and edification like never before would be established among men. Isaiah was not a prophet dominated by bad news, but a man who wanted to make the world of his time a better world.
The Christian faith relies on many texts from Isaiah to affirm the divinity of Jesus and his mission in the world; without Isaiah, Jesus most likely would not have had the influence he did.
