The Journey of Science

Science and Society

Science is a powerful tool for society to better understand the world. It helps us make predictions and control our surroundings. I think science is the best tool for making predictions, but it isn't perfect. We have to interpret scientific evidence that seems to be contradictory and peer reviews are important for this. We also have to be cognizant of scientific manipulation and politics that interfere. If I told you that the Earth is round and humans are the only species capable of flying, would you believe me? Probably not. What if I could provide you with scientific facts and evidence that would convince you otherwise? Would you change your mind? Again, probably not I hope. You would have to change your worldview and accept what others might view as insanity.

Science and Protocol

Science is an important activity for humanity, even if it does not have the same importance as art, which is part of the human experience. The scientific method consists in a series of steps. First you observe something that puzzles you about the world and then you form a hypothesis about how things work. After this first step, it's time to experiment with your idea to see whether or not it matches reality. It's a good idea to have several hypotheses, so that you can compare them. It is important never to ignore the evidence that experiments provide. This is the open minded approach without bias that serves as a baseline for scientific advancement.

Science and Power

If our hypothesis is a good one, it will survive tests and we may gain an insight into how things work or what the world is like. The scientific method is a powerful tool for understanding the world, and it has proven to be very successful. It should not be abandoned simply because something goes wrong once in a while. Science has very little to do with traditional views of faith.
