The metropolitan area is a large population center consisting of one large metropolis and the surrounding area, or several neighboring central cities and the surrounding area. One big city or more can act as its hub, and the metropolitan area is usually named according to the largest or most important central city in it. An example is the Greater Metropolitan Area of ​​Jabodetabek, where Jakarta as the core city and "Bodetabek" as the buffer zones around it have interdependence relationships. Metropolitan is an urban system which means a collection of cities that interact and work together to achieve certain goals in complex environments.
