Life's a Beach in Miami!
What’s the best part of living the opt out life in 2018? Not having to ask for “vacation days” from your boss! This week the blog is on location in Miami Beach!
Our family took our first trip in about 2 years. Usually we try to make it out of Colorado and somewhere warm at least once a year. With the birth of Sebastian, we had to take a break. This was his first airplane ride and it took him a few days to get used to being away from home. Now that he’s acclimated to the hot weather and officially in vacation mode, I can take a break, enjoy a cigar and reflect on the roller coaster that has been life… opted out.
The cigar is a Padron 1964 Family Reserve. I went to their headquarters here in Miami. For any true Padron lovers - this is not to be missed. They have an awesome smoke room and a small shop. Nothing like getting a fresh top of the brand cigar right from the source. One that was rolled days ago in Nicaragua. Not sitting around in some warehouse for months.
This morning the older kids and I rented some jet skis and toured the bay with Hector’s Ski Rentals. These guys were great! They picked us up from our hotel took us to the bay we got on the jet skis after about 20 minutes of some safety lessons (and a boat ride). We got to see some ritzy mansions around Star Island and one heck of a yacht parked in the marina. Hector had lots of jokes and took lots of pictures. After the tour was over Hector’s wife took us back to our hotel. I asked on the way if she could instead drop us off at her favorite cuban restaurant and she did. Not only that, she waited for us to pick up the food and then drove us all the way back home. What service! Highly recommended!
Other fun activities included go-karting and seeing the Wynwood Walls. The Wynwood walls is an outdoor street art exhibit - completely free and open to the public. Pro-tip: Go there in the morning or when its cloudy. ITS HOT HERE!
Lots of great food in Miami. Our favorite so far was OLA in Miami Beach. Oh the Ceviches! The cigar shaped desert was a great way to end the night.
