Life Under the Microscope #6
Greetings.
Still exploring with the microscope.
Here are a couple of videos showing cool microbes. I'm not sure exactly what they are though.
This next one is pretty amazing.
This guy is about 20 by 30 microns in size and the diameter of the two flagella are a fraction of a micron.
What really interests me is just how strong the flagella must be in order to move the way they do.
Consider what it's like for us walking moving through the air. We barely notice it unless there is a breeze. For an flying insect however, the air would feel thick as though they were travelling through oil. What must it be like for a microbe in water then? Yet those flagella are whipping around fairly quickly but they stay intact.
Leave a comment if you enjoyed these videos...... or leave one if you didn't.... or leave on if you didn't have any particular feelings about them at all.
Bye for now.
