What are The Mindsets You Need for “Creative Work”

in #mindset6 months ago

What would you think if I told you that you can get better at being creative. We thought that imagination was a mysterious gift that everyone had.

Getting ideas and "A-ha!" moments to make artistic work We waited to get pictures of them. A lot has changed in how people think about innovation lately. I'm interested in what kind of story is really behind making art.

An important name in the business world, Seth Godin, says in his book "The Practice: Shipping Creative Work" that there are two things that are needed to make creative work: courage and kindness.

You are kind by giving something of yourself. You're also brave enough to consider that they might not be useful in the end. All the things you do can be called "creative work" in this case.

As an example, a therapist might try a lot of different methods on his clients, even though he doesn't know if they will work or not. Or, a YouTuber might give their time freely to make useful videos even if they don't know if people will watch them.

When we make decisions in our daily business lives, we can see if they lead to creative work. Seth Godin used 4 types to explain this. He called the first group of people "Hack" because they couldn't be brave or kind.

Their business strategy is to copy other people's work, but they don't make any progress because they're afraid to try something new. People in the second group are not afraid, but they only care about themselves. "Hustler" is the name of this group that only cares about short-term goals and doesn't want to help other people.

People in the third group do a lot of good work, but they are afraid to try new things because they only do what they are told. They are called "Cog" employees, and they are easy to replace in business because they can't keep up with changes.

This is what Seth Godin's book is called, and the way to get it is to practise. Loving the process and not caring about the results is a way of thinking that helps people keep practicing.

Like, let's look at two men who are going fishing. A person who is focused on results will look at how many fish were caught that day and decide that they don't need to go fishing again.

The other person, who is process-oriented, cares about the experience of buying the fishing rod and bait he will use. He also wants to learn how to shake the rod and catch more fish through different tests.
