Finding Fool's gold
On first glance mistaken for real gold, many a golddigger would probably have cursed finding the mineral pyrite or iron pyrite.
I would imagine that some reclusive rookie miners would have dug up a motherload of pyrite, only to hear the mistake after.
A Gold rush picture, digging the real stuff.
I found this nugget in the river Scheldt, might have been washed down from more mountainous regions over the centuries, or simply have been waste thrown overboard from an old coalship as pyrite seems to occur in natural coalfields.
The formula for these cubic bonds is FeS2, one iron element bonding two sulfur elements.
Of no particular great value, but surely something esthetic.
Good read, thanks
Thx Driesba!
I follow 3 persons, you're one of them now :)
I wish I found real gold. You are right. Rookies like us can easily mistake it for fools gold. I had heard about fools gold but this is the first time I am seeing it in your blog. Thank. Upvoted.
I would be honoured if you take a look at my blog today. I have captured a liquid gold pool in my photo. Lol. Your comments will be very much appreciated.
I will Vm2904, thanks for reading!
