Advertising For The Millenial

in #money8 years ago

The Ad industry has gone through much change in the last 5 years. Radio is dying and cable television is dwindling. The mobile friendly market has made way for a new kind of industry with the likes of Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Netflix. Certain businesses may be losing traction but advertising shall always prosper. The question lies in understanding which platforms to market on, and before choosing it’s important to understand your targeted market. Consider the difference between the consumer and the decision maker in order to create the proper content. Once you’ve done so study the generic user base of each platform you are looking to advertise on. Although many social media platforms tend to be rather similar, they vary drastically in the amounts they charge for advertising. Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are very cost effective platforms to advertise on that allow you to track the metrics of all that you post. Snapchat and Instagram on the other hand are far more pricey as they continue to focus on building their user base without a desire to bombard newsfeed's with advertisements. If you need evidence think about what happened when Google bought Youtube. Youtube didn’t promote advertising for several years, but the moment they knew people were hooked on their platform they went crazy. People are slowly starting to realize that social media is a fantastic and highly efficient platform to advertise on. As this continues over the next several years newsfeed space will become more desirable, and more expensive as a result. So, understand your market, choose a platform, and start advertising on social media now because the price will only go up.
