A post for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos
This is a Bar I came across on a morning walk along Avenue A in NYC between 13th and 14th Street
Its Described as an Asian HipHop Bar serving an Asian Fusion Style of food and apparently it is a popular party place from what I could find online.
Of course what caught my eye was the cool art work above the corrugated roller doors.
Its cool in NYC how even a little restaurant like this has cool art over the entrance, what is kind of unusual for this one is the corrugated roller doors have only a little bit of tagging and no graffiti art which is quite common on many of the stores in this area

He looks like a cool guy. I bet he would be fun at parties :) Of course the whole notion of a fat buddha is counter intuitive... Especially in asia.. you get lots of fat buddhas, but of course the buddha statues in temples show him as a skinny figure.. which would have been far more appropriate given the lifestyle and beliefs of buddhism.
I do find Fat Buddha quite a contradiction for sure

Thats a beautiful art but personally im not agree with ''fat buddha'' you know
i dont even know the story behind that but i know Buddha was moderate in everything
Their website says Fat Buddha cameto the East Village to show people how to reach enlightenment through great food, drinks, company and music
I have never been to it when it is open so I honestly do not know

Looks like it was well done!
Thanks :)
That is some amazing graphic art. The roll down may have been recently cleaned off. The restaurant itself may have done it or someone on community service. It is unusual that it is so clean, We are fortunate in Vancouver. There is no need for roll downs.
Isn’t it just
And yes that would make sense
Hey @tattoodjay great shot and really awesome graffiti that artist painted. I can really appreciate that.
Thanks Mate have a great day
That is a cool art treatment around the entrance. You’re lucky to have discovered the art before the doors and walls around it were tagged to distraction. Street graffiti is often great, but sometimes to much of crowds together.
I am sure if I visited again sometime n itvwill have been tagged
I do like a lot of the graffiti art but not so much ch the tagging
Wow... "Asian HipHop Bar serving an Asian Fusion Style" I feel like my hipster rating rose a level just by reading that phrase! ;) Very nice @tattoodjay!
Lol yeah I thought the same when I found that in the web it just sounds so cool
It is odd that the roller doors are not covered in graffiti art! Might be an interesting place to visit, once.
I would love to check out the food and atmosphere there but it’s way the other side of the city so I may well never make it
