Monthly Update: We've been working hard, and we think you'll like it

It's been a busy time here at SRN HQ since launch. We've been working on some cool concepts, and trying to find more contributors to our platform. The latter is taking longer than we had hoped. Despite this, it's full steam ahead in constructing the underlying platform which will serve our readers and publishers. As a result, we thought we'd give our readers (the few we currently have) an update on what's going on behind the scenes.

Um wait, why is a news organisation giving updates on their service?

Some Real News is a brand new news outlet, and we are still building our brand. We think it's critical to update our users on the goings-on while we are establishing a service we're hoping they can rely on. Our aim is simple. Be as innovative as possible, and cater for our readers as best as we can. Monthly Updates are definitely in line with that aim, at least we think. We're hoping that by posting this we might spark some unique ideas for better ways to deliver news.

With that said, let's take a look at some of the things we've implemented since our launch.

Implemented changes

While we only launched just over a week ago, some of the things we've implemented in that time are:

• Steemit Integration
  • We've set ourselves up on the Steem Blockchain. This means snippets from each and every article posted to our website will be posted on the Steem blockchain. We're pretty excited about this one given the potential for our readers to earn some STEEM Tokens through interacting with the network. Our aim is to make this as easy as possible for our readers to do without leaving our site if they'd rather just engage with our content. Keep an eye out for articles on this explaining what this all means. For now, check out their website.
• Facebook Login
  • Users can now login to SRN using their Facebook account. This will not only save our users time, but you won't need to remember your password for that 60th site. We hope you are as happy about that as we are! More to come, including Twitter integration.
• Registration page for contributors
  • We make it no secret that we are short on contributors. This is something we aren't too worried about given we've only been up and running for just over one week. We've developed a registration page for contributors to express their interest in writing for SRN. The whole office has their fingers and toes crossed hoping it will successfully draw in much needed talent.

In development

We've got some things in the pipeline, many of which we aren't going to list here. Yes that's right, we're going to keep you guessing 😏

Some things we do want to share however are:

• SRN Academy
  • We are hoping to develop a central hub containing a range of courses (all free of charge) that would seek to equip our readers with information we think is too valuable not to know. This ties into our larger vision which is to provide our users with the information they need to live their best lives.
• Website redevelopment
  • This has been in progress since day one. In saying this we've made great progress on the backend, we've just got to put more polish in on the front-end. We are hoping to attract some more contributors so that we are able to focus much more on this.
